When Is Internal Teeth Bleaching Used?

Internal teeth bleaching is typically recommended in the following scenarios:

• Root Canal Treated Teeth: Teeth that have undergone root canal therapy often become discolored because of changes within the tooth.

How Does Internal Teeth Bleaching Work?

During your initial consultation, our endodontists will evaluate the condition of your teeth and determine if internal bleaching is the right option for you. If internal bleaching is deemed appropriate, the affected tooth will be prepared for treatment by creating a small access point to the tooth’s interior, usually through the top of the tooth. A specially formulated bleaching agent is applied inside the tooth. After the bleaching agent is applied, the access point is sealed. Once the desired level of whitening is achieved, the access point is permanently sealed with a filling material. The tooth is then restored to its natural shape and function.
