David Drake, DDS

Dr. David Drake is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who grew up in Kansas City. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University graduating magna cum laude with honors in microbiology. He then attended the University of Utah School of Dentistry as part of its inaugural class. While in dental school, he served as student body class president, was elected to membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, and received awards for excellence in oral surgery, oral and maxillofacial pathology, and leadership. He was also awarded the United States Air Force Health Professions Scholarship.

Upon graduation, Dr. Drake was stationed at Travis Air Force Base as an active duty Air Force general dentist for one year prior to his formal residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at David Grant USAF Medical Center. Dr. Drake’s training encompassed the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on in-office anesthesia, dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting, corrective jaw surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, and the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

Dr. Drake is currently stationed at Joint Base Andrews as an attending surgeon at the Malcom Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center. He is actively involved in teaching OMS residents from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as well as advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) residents.

Dr. Drake is committed to providing the highest quality, professional care to his patients. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He holds certifications in advanced life support (ALS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and advanced trauma life support (ATLS).

Dr. Drake lives in Alexandria with his wife and three children. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his neighborhood and church communities.
